Nigerian Hot cake Artist, Rema has enjoyed an unprecedented international success in 2023 with his global smash hit ‘Calm Down’ with Selena Gomez which topped chart in multiple countries.
Rema won the award for the Best African act at the 2023 MTV EMAs, after fending off competition from other superstars including Davido and Burna Boy.
Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj were the highest winners as they won three awards respectively. The 2023 MTV EMAs ceremony scheduled for Paris was earlier cancelled because of what organisers said was a cautionary measure to protect all those who would be travelling down from different parts of the world in light of the situation between Israel and Palestine.
