The Management Committee Of the Benue State University, Makurdi, has suspended all 200-600 level medical students of its College of Health and Human Services for a period of a month.
It was contained in a statement by the registrar, Mfaga Modom, that academic activities of 100 level students remain uninterrupted but 200-600 level students are suspended.
She noted in her reaction that suspension formed part of resolutions reached by the management committee and academic staff of the college of health sciences as results of the students demonstration of Wednesday, October 25, 2023 which it described as recalcitrant.
Constitution of an investigative panel is also part resolutions reached, to look into the remote and immediate causes of the demonstration and advice appropriately.
Majorly part of the conclusion was immediate suspension of the Benue State University Students Association (BESUMSA) till further notice.
Each student are to resume with a sworn affidavit from a competent court of law attesting to be of good conduct and also come along with a parent or guardian to sign an undertaking.
The affected students were therefore directed to immediately vacate their hostels from Monday 30th October 2023.
It could be recalled that medical students had staged a peaceful protest to government house on Wednesday, October 25, over poor conditions a demonstration which has caused this reaction.
