As National Sports Festival draw nearer, Osun State Sports Council has commenced trials to select best athletes that will represent the state at the the tournament.This is contained in a release issued by the Chief PRO- Mrs Funmilayo Moradeyo.
The trials, kicked off with the game of boxing where nine boxers of different categories were selected.
In 52KG , Ojo Balogun beat Monjeed Adekunle; -Olawale Nurudeen qualified by walk over in 54KG ; – Badmus Mujeeb beat Olanrewaju Saheed in 57KG and Olamilekan Oladipo defeated Ishola Adeniyi in 61KG.
Also in 70KG , Olamilekan Ridwan beat Lekan Basiru, and Alimi Afeez defeated Isiaq Ibraheem in 73KG -Adesina Adebayo qualified by walk over in 75KG while Akintayo Wasiu rounded off the bouts by beating Adesakin Ibrahim in 81KG.
In the same vein, the state will feature in six games in the Zonal Elimination of ball games slated for 3rd – 7th October, 2022 at Lanreleke Sports academy, Ile – Ogbo and Bowen university, Iwo.
They are: Football, Handball; Volleyball; Basketball; Hockey and Beach Volleyball.
