The former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh has expressed his disappointment following Nigeria’s shocking result against Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Saturday.

Super Eagles of Nigeria started their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a disappointing 1-1 draw against Lesotho on Thursday evening.

Nigeria appeared the clear favourites ahead of the clash against Lesotho but bottled opportunity to win the, only salvage a point at home.

The Super Eagles dominated the first half but failed to capitalize on the chances, Surprisingly Lesotho took the lead against the run of play in the second half before being held to a 1-1 draw.

Super Eagles got equalizer through Semi Ajayi with a brilliant header minutes later, Jose Peseiro’s men could not find the winner.

Sunday Oliseh came up with his criticism following the disappointing performance from the Nigeria national team.

The former captain of Super Eagles expressed his disappointment in the result, stating that the home-based players would have put in a better performance.

Oliseh further registered his annoyance, saying no one would be punished for the disappointing result.

“Haba This nightmare go ever end? Woke up to this shocker this morning. Our homebased suppose dey beat Lesotho na! dem even first us score!!!! The painful part be say, no consequences for these national embarrassments sef,” Oliseh said on his Twitter account.

The Super Eagles will hope to bounce back on Sunday when they take on Zimbabwe in their second.
