The cross river Police Command has confirmed a dead middle-aged lady was found in a hotel room at State Housing in Calabar.
According to the information that was made available to the journalist by the spokesperson of the command, Irene Ugbo, made it known that hotel staff members found the body in one of the rooms in the early hours of Sunday.
She said the identity of the lady who checked in with a guy on Saturday night but was later found dead is yet to be known.
According to her, the unidentified male guest left early in the morning under the guise that he was going to withdraw money from the ATM but did not come back three hours later.
She made it known that seven staff of the hotel had been arrested for interrogation on the needed information for the investigation.
“We are aware of the incident, and the story is true. A man and a woman lodged in a hotel, and the woman was later found dead. We are investigating the matter.
“We had to arrest staff of the hotel who were on duty when the guests came into the facility to produce the contract details of their guests that would help us during our investigation ” She explained.
The police spokesperson equally advised hoteliers to ensure the data collection of guests.
She later concluded ”We are already on the trail of the deceased’s partner who absconded. I can assure the public that he would be apprehended as soon as possible,”.
